Derbyshire captain Billy Godleman has been nominated for the Professional Cricketers’ Association Player of the Month Award for April.

The opening batsman has been in prolific form in the Royal London One-Day Cup and is currently the competition’s leading run-scorer across the North and South groups after six matches.

He scored a club-record three consecutive centuries en route to 479 runs with two games still to play.

His 87 against Northants Steelbacks on Good Friday set up an opening match win, while he followed that with 116 against Notts Outlaws on Easter Sunday and 106 in the victory against Leicestershire Foxes the following week.

Perhaps his most remarkable knock was the unbeaten 107 against Yorkshire Vikings at Emerald Headingley as Derbyshire struck 224-3 in a dramatic 22 overs to tie.

The 30-year-old also captained his side to victory over Durham in the opening round of the Specsavers County Championship, as well as a high-scoring draw away to Gloucestershire.

His fellow nominees are Hampshire’s Liam Dawson, as well as the Somerset pairing of Lewis Gregory and Craig Overton.

Well played, Billy.
