Thirteen overs possible on Day One for Seconds

Wednesday 29th May 2019
Written by Danny Painter

Derbyshire could only manage thirteen overs of their first innings as rain halted play for much of the opening day of the Second XI Championship fixture against Yorkshire.

The seconds finished the day on 44-2 after play was delayed until the afternoon as rain fell at York Cricket Club, leaving a wet outfield and no prospect of play in the first session.

Once conditions were fit, Yorkshire won the toss and elected to bowl first, with Mathew Pillans striking in the second over, Jesse Dinnie bowled without scoring.

Tyler McGladdery fell lbw to the bowling of Matthew Fisher in the final over of the day for 16 , while Tom Wood was 25 not out at the close of play.

Leus du Plooy (0*) and Wood (25*) will resume on Day Two with Derbyshire on 44-2.
