Daryn Smit hit an unbeaten 32 on a rain-hit Day One of the Second XI Championship game against Leicestershire.
Six Derbyshire wickets fell in the 36.2 overs that were played, with Tom Wood (26) and Smit providing the bulk of the runs at Loughborough Town Cricket Club.
Smit and Connor Marshall put on an unbeaten 48-run partnership before rain put a stop to play, with the latter on 17 not out, meaning that Derbyshire will begin Day Two on 98-6.
Leicestershire won the toss and elected to bowl, a decision that looked a good one when Evans (3-25) had Tyler McGladdery (1) caught behind in the second over.
Dinnie (12) was gone in the sixth over when he was caught by Kimber off Griffiths, with the score at 19-2.
Wood saw the wickets of Ewan Cox (2), Fynn Hudson-Prentice (4) and Hutchinson (0) fall in quick succession, leaving Derbyshire 40-5 in the 12th over.
Wood and Smit added 10 runs to move the score to 50 before the former was out, caught behind off the bowling of Ben Mike, Smit and Marshall steadied the innings, putting on 33 runs before lunch, as Derbyshire entered the interval on 83-6.
After lunch, the pair continued but they were only able to put together 15 more runs before a combination of bad light and rain halted play in the 37th over, putting an end to play on Day One.
