Daryn Smit top-scored with 89 as Derbyshire made 202 on Day Two of the Second XI Championship game against Lancashire at Belper Meadows CC.
Smit and Mark Watt (27) put on 64 runs for the seventh wicket, before 40 runs for the final wicket with James Taylor helped to propel Derbyshire beyond 200.
Taylor, Dustin Melton and Anuj Dal shared five wickets as the hosts left Lancashire 58-5 at the close of play, with Derbyshire in a good position heading into the final day of the game.
Having seen no play on Day One due to rain, Derbyshire were put into bat on Day Two and lost three wickets in the first ten overs of their innings, with Ewan Cox (5), Tom Wood (2) and Tyler McGladdery (9) all falling in quick succession.
A partnership of 39 between Dal (15) and Sam Oldham (24) somewhat steadied the ship for the hosts, before they both fell to the bowling of George Burrows (5-24).
Smit arrived at the crease and, along with Watt, moved Derbyshire from a position of 70-6 to 134 when Watt was caught by George Lavelle off Lord.
The captain was the final wicket to fall when he was caught by Tom Hartley off the bowling of Matt Parkinson, after hitting 12 fours and two sixes on his way to 89, with Derbyshire all out for 202.
The first wicket of Lancashire’s innings fell when Melton had Shah (9) caught by Wood, before Taylor struck in consecutive overs to remove Jake Lehmann (11) and Lavelle (0).
Dal trapped Edward Fluck lbw for the final wicket of the day, dismissing the opener for a score of 16 as Lancashire ended Day Two 58-5, with Stephen Parry unbeaten on nine and Hartley not out on four.
