Tony Palladino scored 58 before Derbyshire claimed five wickets on Day Three against Worcestershire at Kidderminster.
Fynn Hudson-Prentice (2-8), Ravi Rampaul (2-26) and Palladino (1-19) shared five wickets after the visitors had set Worcestershire a total of 273 to win the match.
The hosts made 156-5 before the close of play, with Callum Ferguson unbeaten on 71 and Ben Cox not out on 44, still needed 217 to claim victory.
