Local Rivals Collide: Table Tennis

Thursday 25th July 2019
Written by Danny Painter

The East Midlands Derby reignites on Friday 26 July when Notts Outlaws arrive at The Pattonair County Ground in this summer’s Vitality Blast.

The near-neighbours go head-to-head in the second of back-to-back home local derbies to kick-start Derbyshire’s Twenty20 campaign.

It’s out in the middle where it counts… but the rivalry extends beyond the boundary. Before this season’s explosive Twenty20 action got underway, we sent Anuj Dal and Wayne Madsen to Trent Bridge to take part in a trio of challenges against Outlaws, Ben Slater and Joe Clarke.

Challenge #2 Table Tennis, with a chance for Madsen to come to the fore.

See who wins cricket’s first instalment of the East Midlands Derby on Friday 26 July at The Pattonair County Ground; 7pm start.

Top-class cricket
International stars arrive at The Pattonair County Ground for the East Midlands Derby. Harry Gurney is expected to lead the seam attack for the Outlaws having won the Big Bash league in Australia over the winter.

Experienced Australia all-rounder Dan Christian has been a main-stay of the Outlaws side for a number of years and he will continue to captain the 2017 winners.

They face off against a Derbyshire side led by Billy Godleman, who hit an unbeaten 70 in the opening round win over Yorkshire.

Wayne Madsen won the PCA Most Valuable Player award in 2017 and has garnered respect on the circuit for his T20 prowess with the bat.

Leading the pace attack will be Ravi Rampaul and fellow quick, Logan van Beek. Can Derbyshire make it back-to-back home wins?

Matchday Experience
New for 2019 there will be more bars around The Pattonair County Ground than ever before for Vitality Blast matches. From small pop-ups to larger quick-pour bars, we have listened to your feedback and improved our refreshment offering for 2019.

Added to the variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink options, there will be an array of catering units offering food for the whole family.

Family Entertainment
Back by popular demand, the BatFast Simulator will be in place at the Showcase Cinema de Lux Family Zone. Pit your skills against the bowling simulator and feel what it’s like to face fast bowling at The Pattonair County Ground.

Family-friendly catering will also be available to the rear of the Family Zone, while there will be Cricket Factory mini-games, the Red Monkey Play Area and a host of giveaways, including our free autograph collection sheet.
