As the Falcons prepare to take on local rivals Notts Outlaws, we take a look at one of the oppositions key players: Alex Hales.
Hales already has one half-century to his name in this year’s Vitality Blast, after scoring 52 in the opening game of the competition against Worcestershire Rapids, while he followed that up by hitting 33 against Northants as the Outlaws secured a seven-wicket win, their first victory in the competition this season.
Throughout his career, Hales has played 206 T20s, scoring 5,644 runs at an average of 29.39, managing 35 half-centuries and three centuries in the most explosive form of the game.
Hales made his international debut for England in 2011, when he lined-up in a six-wicket victory over India at Old Trafford, in which he failed to score a run.
Since then, however, he has represented England in T20 cricket 60 times, averaging 31.01 after scoring 1,644 runs for the national side, which has resulted in eight 50s and one century.
Hales has also appeared in 70 ODIs for England, scoring 2,419 at an average of 37.79, having achieved 14 half-centuries and six centuries.
