Twenty20 Head Coach, Dominic Cork, is pleased to see his players book a second Vitality Blast quarter-final in three seasons.

Derbyshire recovered from a blip in the middle of the group stages to record three successive wins over the Bank Holiday weekend and take their tally to 16 points, guaranteeing a knockout spot in a highly competitive North Group.

Finishing the group stages early due to the three-day Aston Lark Tourist Fixture against Australia, Derbyshire now face Gloucestershire away on Saturday 7 September, with Cork happy to face any side in what is a chance to reach a first Finals Day for the club.

Speaking before confirmation of the last-eight tie, the former Derbyshire all-rounder praised his side for finishing strongly to take third place in the North Group.

“We tried to set out a team that could get us into that quarter-final and I’m really pleased, not just for myself, but for the group of guys who’ve worked really hard along the way,” said Cork.

“We had some blips along the way, especially at home, but to finish with three wins was great for the side and we’ll see who we get in the quarter-final.

“We’re not bothered who we get in the quarter-final, they’re all going to be good teams. We’ve just got to go out there and execute our plans.”
