Billy Godleman says that the Aston Lark Tourist Fixture against Australia will be a special one for the Derbyshire squad.

Beginning on Thursday (11am), some of Australia’s biggest stars will line up at The Pattonair County Ground for the three-day fixture ahead of the fourth Ashes Test at Emirates Old Trafford.

The hosts come into the game off the back of confirming a place in the Vitality Blast quarter-finals, having won their last three games, while Australia were defeated by England in the third Ashes Test.

The tourists now come to Derby, with Steve Smith expected to feature at The Pattonair County Ground after missing the game at Headingley through injury.

Godleman says that the Derbyshire squad are looking forward to testing themselves against Australia, and says the players will relish the chance.

“Any first-class game is a privilege to play in, and to play against a very strong Australia side is a huge opportunity,” said Godleman.

“I wont be missing the match, and I think I speak for everyone in the dressing room when I say that we are very excited for it.

“We play cricket, and we train hard, a lot of it behind closed doors, so to play in these types of games, as well as having a Vitality Blast quarter-final coming up, is really special.”

Supporters can save £4 by purchasing their tickets in advance of the day of the game, while further discounts are available when purchased as a group of 10 or more.

Members will be able to attend this match for free as part of their 2019 Membership package.
