A historic moment 17 years in the making, Derbyshire have reached Vitality Blast Finals Day.

A North Group campaign typified by grit and determination, followed by an all-round professional display in the quarter-final earns a first appearance at the showpiece Twenty20 finale.

The Falcons, buoyed by contributions throughout the team and a sense of togetherness among the squad, head into the semi-final clash with Essex on Saturday 21 September full of confidence, having won a club-record equalling four T20s in a row.

A string of standout performances have helped the Falcons to Edgbaston, with Ravi Rampaul’s 22 wickets not only the most T20 wickets taken by a Derbyshire player in a single season, but also the most of any bowler in the campaign.

Captain Billy Godleman and Wayne Madsen each have four half-centuries to their name, while Leus du Plooy and Luis Reece have also contributed to a set top-order which has scored 1,500 runs across 13 innings.

Matt Critchley has claimed 17 wickets in the competition, equalling the most taken by a Derbyshire spinner, while Alex Hughes and Logan van Beek have both made telling contributions along the way.

Over 18,000 people supported Derbyshire in six home Vitality Blast matches this summer, as well as the hundreds who travelled to Bristol to cheers the Falcons onto victory.

The club’s allocation of Finals Day tickets have since been snapped up by Members and supporters, selling out in just three minutes during the general sale window.

And the excitement’s not over yet. Little old Derbyshire?
