VIDEO: van Beek says Falcons have supported each other well

Written by Stephen Martin

Logan van Beek says that Derbyshire’s squad have supported each other well throughout the Vitality Blast with bat and ball.

Ravi Rampaul has claimed 21 wickets in the competition, the most T20 wickets in a single season by a Derbyshire player, while Matt Critchley (15), van Beek (9), Fynn Hudson-Prentice (9) and Alex Hughes (7) have taken 40 wickets between them.

As the Falcons prepare for their Vitality Blast quarter-final against Gloucestershire tomorrow, van Beek believes that the form of batsmen and bowlers has been crucial for Derbyshire this season.

“It’s always pleasing as a bowling attack to see the batsmen do their jobs, said van Beek.

“We have Ravi leading the way with his experience and confidence in what he can do. I’m also really pleased for Matt Critchley, who has been taking wickets and going at 4/5 an over, that’s a big thing for us.

“Other guys like Alex Hughes and Luis Reece have been nailing their jobs in the middle, and we are really proud of Fynn, he has come in this season and can bowl a couple of overs in the powerplay and is ice cool at the death.

“It’s great to be a part of this group, where everybody has a role and knows their role, I think that has correlated to success on the field.”
