Hamidullah Qadri will join Kent after his Derbyshire contract expires.
The off-spinner turned down the club’s offer of a new contract and will sign for Kent at the end of the current season.
Qadri,18, claimed a five-wicket haul against Glamorgan on his first-class debut and went on to make 13 appearances for the club.
The young bowler took 23 first-class wickets at an average of 35.91, while he also featured in three List A matches for Derbyshire.
Head of Cricket, Dave Houghton, said: “We offered Hamid a new deal, but he has decided to pursue a different opportunity and we wish him all the best in his move to Kent.”
Qadri added: “The move is a chance to further my career, but I’d like to thank Derbyshire and the supporters for the opportunities the club gave me over the past few seasons.”
