Wayne Madsen praised Derbyshire’s all-round performance as the Falcons put in a professional display to beat Gloucestershire by seven wickets and book a Finals Day spot.
The experienced batsman top-scored with 47 in a man of the match knock as the Falcons managed their chase well to win with 17 balls to spare after earlier the bowling unit restricted the hosts to just 135-7.
The victory cemented a first Finals Day place for Derbyshire, who will now face Essex Eagles in the second semi-final of the showpiece T20 event at Edgbaston on Saturday 21 September.
“The club, the supporters, everyone who travelled and those watching on TV – we’re over the moon and we’re really excited about the 21st of September,” said Madsen.
“It was set up by the way we played as a team. The bowlers laid the platform by restricting them to such a chasable total and Billy [Godleman] and Reecey got us off to such a flyer, it made our job a lot easier.
“As a team we played another great game of cricket.”
