Four Derbyshire players have been selected in the inaugural draft of The Hundred following successful summers.

Ahead of the first season of the 100-ball competition, each of the eight city-based franchises finalised their 15-man squads and four Derbyshire players were recognised for their recent impressive Vitality Blast campaigns.

Derbyshire’s leading Twenty20 performers in 2019 with bat and ball were the first two from the club to be selected, with Ravi Rampaul chosen by Welsh Fire and Wayne Madsen snapped up by Manchester Originals.

Both had standout domestic T20 campaigns, as Rampaul topped the tournament wicket-taking table with 23, while Madsen’s four half-centuries saw him finish as the club’s leading run-scorer.

Two left-handers who had prolific summers were picked in the final round, with Luis Reece heading for Lord’s and London Spirit, while Leus du Plooy will join Rampaul and Welsh Fire.

The Pattonair County Ground was chosen as one of the venues for the Women’s Hundred, which will take place alongside the men’s competition next summer.
