Get off the mark this week with quick-fire stories to keep you up to date with the latest news from Derbyshire.

Wayne Madsen is excited by Derbyshire’s young talents, the biggest fireworks display in Derby takes place this week and there were strong starts down under for a Derbyshire duo.

Madsen encouraged by youngsters

Wayne Madsen believes that Derbyshire’s current crop of young stars are a cause for excitement ahead of the 2020 season.

The likes of Leus du Plooy, Fynn Hudson-Prentice, Anuj Dal and Harvey Hosein all had positive seasons in 2019, and Madsen is excited to see how the younger players in the squad continue to develop next year.

“I think one of the great things about our squad is that we have found some talented players who have had another year in first-class cricket,” Madsen said.

“Some of them are just starting off, and I think that really bodes well for us as a squad. We have got some really exciting young guys coming through and pushing the team forward.”
