More than 10,000 people enjoyed an evening of entertainment at the fourth-annual Fireworks Night and Fun Fair at The Pattonair County Ground.

A capacity crowd braved the elements to witness the biggest fireworks display in Derby, as the November sky was illuminated over the home of Derbyshire County Cricket Club.

With performances from singing dance troupe Darley Dance and vocalist Li Laurent, as well as on-stage entertainment from Smooth Radio’s Gareth Evans, spectators were treated to an enthralling evening of music and pyrotechnics.

But that’s not all, as the event also contained a giant fun fair, containing rides and games suitable for the whole family, which was open all evening.

The fireworks display was launched by Martin Forster, who was awarded the prize by Pattonair and the Derbyshire Cricket Board.

Martin, who was left with extreme mobility problems after an accident in 2000, has been instrumental for his local club, Wirksworth & Middleton, where coaches up to five hours a week. He now uses a sports wheelchair after fundraising efforts at the club. He was awarded the 2019 Junior All Stars Activator Award by the Derbyshire Cricket Board for his dedication to coaching.

The event has consistently been one of the most popular events on the calendar, growing every year since beginning in 2016. This years’ display was the biggest yet, as the crowd was treated to a huge light show over The Pattonair County Ground.

Thank you to all who attended at The Pattonair County Ground and we hope to see you again next year.
