Fynn Hudson-Prentice put in a fine display over the weekend to continue his good start to a winter in New Zealand with Christchurch-based Lancaster Park Cricket Club.
The all-rounder took two wickets and hit an unbeaten 45 as his side ran out four-wicket winners over Heathcote CC to go second in the Christchurch Premiership One-Day Cup table.
Opening the bowling, the 23-year-old took 2-26 from his eight overs, removing both openers to reduce Heathcote to 9-2, before they were eventually all out for 148.
Hudson-Prentice came to the crease with Lancaster Park 71-3, chasing a further 78 to win. Taking the attack to the bowlers, he struck seven fours and one six in a 31-ball innings during which he scored an unbeaten 45 to get over the line with more than 20 overs remaining.
Critchley & McDermott
Out in Australia, Matt Critchley and Ben McDermott, the latter Derbyshire’s overseas signing for the second half of the 2020 season, both slipped to one-day defeats.
Critchley’s Fairfield-Liverpool lost to Randwick Petersham in the New South Wales Premier 50-over competition, as despite the leg spinner bowling ten overs and conceding just 24 runs, 93 from Kent’s Daniel Bell-Drummond helped the visitors to victory in their chase.
McDermott’s Tasmania lost out to List A table-toppers Queensland after being bowled out for 223, with the wicketkeeper-batsman making 7.
A safe pair of hands, he did take three catches during the chase, but an unbeaten 86 from former Derbyshire batsman, Usman Khawaja, took the visitors to victory.
Abu Dhabi T10
Meanwhile, over in Abu Dhabi, Derbyshire’s standout Vitality Blast performers, Ravi Rampaul and Wayne Madsen, are competing in the third instalment of the UAE’s T10 competition.
Snapped up as a late pick, 35-year-old Madsen arrived over the weekend to join Team Abu Dhabi and could feature in today’s clash with Maratha Arabians.
Rampaul has played two matches for Delhi Bulls, taking two wickets for just 25 runs, while boasting an impressive economy rate of just 6.25 runs per over.
