Daryn Smit has praised the work of the Academy players during a highly-beneficial tour to Mumbai.

Youngsters Archie Harrison, Mitch Wagstaff, Nafis Sheikh, Nick Potts and Jonny Lawrence took part in net sessions with local coaches, before playing two Twenty20 matches in India.

Head of Development Pathway, Smit, says that the trip will benefit the players in their development, and is pleased by their effort throughout the week.

“The two T20s were a good opportunity for our players to put what they had learnt in the net sessions into practice in a match environment,” said Smit.

“I think everybody has taken something away from the games, and they’re all proud of the work they’ve put into the net sessions, so it has been a great success.”

While developing their all-round game throughout the week, playing spin was a major focus throughout, something that Harrison says has been a big help to the players.

“It’s been absolutely brilliant. The way that all of our games have improved has been fantastic,” said Harrison.

“All the lads have worked extremely hard in tough conditions and it has been really beneficial. The locals have been great with everything that they have done in 35-degree heat.

“One thing that has been brilliant is being able to get simple advice from local coaches on how to play spin, I think I speak for all the lads by saying it has really benefited our games.”
