During these challenging times for all, we want to help keep everyone associated with the club and wider community positive and engaged. We’re in this together and Together, We Are All Derbyshire.
To start the club’s Together, We Are All Derbyshire campaign we looked back at the 1981 NatWest Trophy triumph.
Since then, you’ve been getting in touch with your memories of the run to Lord’s and the final itself.
Long-standing supporter, Michael Madin, gives his account of that memorable day.
“The most memorable fixture for me was the 1981 NatWest Trophy at Lord’s. A work colleague and I had finished our night shift early to get a few hours sleep and drive down to the overground station.
“We caught the tube and made our way to the ground. The match was thrilling see-sawing to the advantage of us and Northants.
“I don’t think I had any fingernails left. An old lady fan next to us had to put her knitting down! I can remember the last ball the cry went up ‘he’s bowling’ we all stood up and Geoff Miller and Colin Tunnicliffe ran the bye, pandemonium!!
“We shook hands with Northants supporters and the atmosphere was wonderful. We drove back to Derbyshire and went back on nights!!”
