Derbyshire have named a 13-man squad for the return of first-class cricket to Derbyshire, as they host Worcestershire at The Incora™ County Ground, beginning on Thursday 15 April; 11am start.
Billy Godleman’s side picked up a hard-fought draw in their opening LV= County Championship encounter against Warwickshire, with Matt Critchley (64 and 83, as well as 2-22) and Harvey Hosein (78 not out), starring on the final day, before snow and bad light forced the draw.
Although Derbyshire proved their batting depth on Day Four at Edgbaston, the captain will be hoping for a better performance from the top five, with only Luis Reece reaching a half-century in the opening game.
Seamers Sam Conners, Michael Cohen, Ben Aitchison, and Cricket Derbyshire in partnership with the University of Derby Academy graduate, Nick Potts, are named in the squad, alongside all-rounders Fynn Hudson-Prentice and Anuj Dal.

Pre-Match Talk
Harvey Hosein believes that maintaining a disciplined approach will be key for Derbyshire’s LV= County Championship fixture against Worcestershire.
The match will be the first time that many of the squad have played on home soil since 2019, with Hosein one of few exceptions after he scored an unbeaten 89 against Cardiff UCCE in a friendly earlier this month.
The wicketkeeper-batsman has been delighted with the quality of pitches in Derby, but has emphasised the importance of being disciplined in all aspects of the game.
“The wicket we played on for the Cardiff game is what I would describe as a ‘proper cricket wicket’,” he added.
“Every wicket is unique, so we will take a look on Wednesday and Thursday morning, but the lesson that I took from the Cardiff innings was to remain disciplined, whether your batting or bowling, as long as you do that, you should get the results.”
