Derbyshire have named an 15-man squad for their Vitality Blast fixture against Lancashire Lightning at The Incora County Ground (7pm start).

Luis Reece has scored 131 runs across his first three Vitality Blast innings, with the all-rounder looking to continue his good form alongside batsmen Harry Came, Billy Godleman, Leus du Plooy and Tom Wood.

Reece also leads the Falcons’ wicket-taking charts, with both he and Logan van Beek claiming five each, while Matt Critchley (4) and Fynn Hudson-Prentice (3) have also been effective with the ball.

Brooke Guest, Mattie McKiernan and Alex Thomson will all be hoping to add to their Vitality Blast appearances this season. New loan signing Conor McKerr is named in the squad with fellow young quicks George Scrimshaw and Sam Conners.

Alex Hughes will be ruled out for up to six weeks with a side strain with associated costal cartilage injury, although Anuj Dal could be in line to feature for the Second XI tomorrow, as he continues his recovery from a shoulder injury.

Dustin Melton (heel) and Nick Potts (ankle impingement) also remain out.

Pre-Match Talk

Fynn Hudson-Prentice says Derbyshire need to make the most of an early run of home games, in order to keep pace with the other North Group sides.

The Falcons have picked up one win from their opening three fixtures, with Sunday’s loss to Birmingham Bears the start of a three-match-run of home fixtures.

They host Lancashire Lightning on Tuesday evening, having narrowly tasted defeat against the same opposition in Manchester last week, and Hudson-Prentice wants the side to hit back and get on a good run.

“We’re a very young team, a lot of us are learning on the job, but it won’t be early for long, you’ve probably got four group games, and then you’re really in the mix of it,” he told BBC Radio Derby.

“We are improving, we’re working hard behind the scenes and it feels like we’re really close. Hopefully we can string a good run of results together.

“You see how Lancashire play, the way they bat, bowl and field, you see all of that from the first game and we will take all of that into this game. We want to turn this place into a bit of a fortress.”
