Derbyshire have named a 14-man for their Vitality Blast fixture against Worcestershire Rapids at The Incora County Ground tomorrow (7pm start).
Unbeaten in their last two games, the Falcons come into the fixture on the back of a week’s full training after the dramatic tie with Notts Outlaws, due to the postponement of four-day fixture against India A.
Tom Wood, Leus du Plooy and Luis Reece have all hit half-centuries recently, and the trio will be looking to fire the Falcons to a big victory on Friday night, as Dominic Cork’s side attempt to gatecrash the quarter-final places.
With a combined 43 wickets to their name, the seam-bowling trio of Logan van Beek (15), George Scrimshaw (14) and Fynn Hudson-Prentice (14) are each aiming to regain their place at the top of the wicket-taking charts, while Mattie McKiernan’s 3-9 last time out will give the all-rounder great confidence heading into the remainder of the Vitality Blast.
Fast-bowler Conor McKerr drops out of the squad, after being recalled from his loan spell by parent club, Surrey. With the likes of Sam Conners and Dustin Melton part of a lengthy injury list, the Falcons have brought in experienced quick Jade Dernbach ahead of Friday’s game.
Anuj Dal (broken finger) is also out, while Nils Priestley is named in the squad after recovering from a shoulder strain.

Pre-Match Talk
Dominic Cork says the Falcons will need to win all of their remaining games if they are to reach the latter stages of the Vitality Blast, but the Twenty20 Head Coach isn’t ruling out a late push for the top four.
