Leus du Plooy scored a powerful 55 off just 33 balls on his South Western Districts debut, but Titans were victorious in the CSA Provincial quarter-final.
The left-hand batter has joined the South African side during the English off-season, and will play in both red and white ball formats. He opened the batting, chasing a target of 193 showed attacking intent from the first over.
Having struck 395 runs for Derbyshire in the 2021 Vitality Blast, du Plooy’s white ball prowess is well-known, and his array of inventive shots and powerful hitting was on full display at Kimberley.
He reached his half-century in 28 balls, including eight fours and one six, before he was run out by Essex spinner Simon Harmer, South Western Districts ultimately dismissed for 138 in a 54-run defeat.
The CSA Four-Day Franchise Series will see South Western Districts compete in Division Two, with their opening fixture against Mpumalanga beginning on Friday 5 November.
