Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, says building and developing Derbyshire’s squad is something he can’t wait to get started with.

Arthur, who will arrive at The Incora County Ground after he leads Sri Lanka in their two Test series against West Indies, which begins on Sunday, is already taking a keen interest in his new team by watching videos and researching every player in the squad.

With young players such as Sam Conners, Ben Aitchison, Mikey Cohen and Brooke Guest enjoying promising 2021 campaigns, Arthur is looking forward to helping their development and building a successful team.

“I love working with young players,” he said.

“I love building teams, it’s really exciting to put all of the pieces together and ultimately get some success. We want to develop a brand, one that delivers sustainable success, but is also attractive for our Members and supporters. That’s really important to me.

“Wherever I’ve been, South Africa and certainly Pakistan, I’ve been able to build teams and that’s where I think Derbyshire are at the minute.”
