Derbyshire continue their preparation for the 2022 season with a two-day friendly against Nottinghamshire, starting on Tuesday (10.30am).
Luis Reece makes his return to action after shoulder and knee surgery during the off-season, while Billy Godleman, Harry Came and Mattie McKiernan will all be aiming to build on promising showings in the middle against Lancashire last time out.
With the ball, Sam Conners is likely to take the new ball, which he will share with one of George Scrimshaw, Dustin Melton, Mikey Cohen or Nick Potts.
Overseas signings, Suranga Lakmal and Shan Masood, will arrive in England at the end of this week, to play in the first game of the season against Middlesex at Lord’s. Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, has said Masood has a chance of featuring in the final friendly against Oxford UCCE, starting on Saturday, but he will be reviewed before any decision is made.

Pre-Match Talk
Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, says Derbyshire will be looking to build momentum early in the two-day friendly against Nottinghamshire, as the work continues ahead of the 2022 season.
Derbyshire struggled in the morning session of both days against Lancashire, going wicketless before lunch with the ball and falling to 85-6 on Day Two.
Arthur says putting pressure on the opposition will be a key aspect of Derbyshire’s game this season, and the side to make a stronger start with bat and ball against Nottinghamshire this week.
“From the first ball, we’ve got to be on the money, because we don’t want to give momentum away,” Arthur said.
“We want to be the team who grabs momentum and puts the opposition under pressure as early as we possibly can. We had to come from behind on both mornings against Lancashire and that’s not good enough.
“You never win a game in a session, but you can lose one and we can’t afford that. Our mantra is to ‘hit the ground running’, whether we are batting or bowling, we have to put the pressure on.
“On Tuesday, against Nottinghamshire, we need to be on the money from the word go.”
