Derbyshire great, John Wright, will remain Club President throughout the 2022 season.
Wright, who scored 10,638 first-class runs and 4,331 List A runs for Derbyshire, including 31 centuries and a top-score of 190, held the position throughout 2020 and 2021.
At the request of the Supervisory Board, with a swell of support from the Derbyshire Members at a recent Members Forum, Wright was offered the chance to continue the position for a third term.
Wright, who resides in New Zealand and scored more than 9,000 for his home nation, hopes to return to Derbyshire this summer and enjoy watching cricket alongside the Members.
“I’m honoured to accept this position. Derbyshire is a special place for me as it’s where I got my first opportunity as a player,” said Wright.
“I am immensely excited about the approaching season, and I hope to be with you all later this year and watch cricket with our Members and supporters.
“The appointment of Mickey is a huge step forward for our Club and I wish all the best to the playing and coaching staff for the coming season.”
Chairman, Ian Morgan, added: “John is undoubtedly a Derbyshire great and a fitting President for the Club. The pandemic has restricted his ability to fulfil to the role and I am pleased to see the support from Members to offer John a further term and delighted that he has accepted.
“We look forward to welcoming John back to The Incora County Ground this summer, however be it from New Zealand or Derbyshire, he always represents the Club with pride and has a fond affection for the staff, players and supporters.”
