Wicketkeeper-batter, Brooke Guest, has signed a one-year contract extension with Derbyshire.

Guest, 24, will remain at The Incora County Ground until at least the end of the 2023 season, having cemented his place as the Club’s first-choice wicketkeeper.

He scored 796 runs and claimed 45 dismissals across all formats last season, which included a maiden first-class century against Leicestershire in September, as part of a Club-record sixth-wicket stand of 227 with Anuj Dal.

Having joined the Club from Lancashire in 2020, initially on-loan, Guest made his move permanent in the winter of that year.

Guest is the latest player to commit his future to the Club recently, with Ben Aitchison, George Scrimshaw and Anuj Dal all signing new deals since the start of November, as well as the overseas signings of Shan Masood and Suranga Lakmal.

Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, said: “This winter, Brooke has shown real development in all aspects of his game and it’s really pleasing that he’s committed to Derbyshire for a further year.

“We’ve been clear from the start that each player will have a defined role within our squad, and Brooke has a big one to play this season, with the wicketkeeping gloves and the bat.”

Guest added: “Last season was a big one for me personally, I played in all formats and felt like I took on more responsibility within the squad.

“Scoring my first century was a huge moment for me, and the batting work I’ve put in over the winter has given me confidence that I can contribute to more wins for Derbyshire this season.”
