Set 356 to win, Derbyshire made a good start led by Shan Masood (62) and remained in touch with the chase with little over five runs per over required with two hours to go.
Middlesex fought back well and the wickets of Wayne Madsen (54), after making his 89th first-class half-century for the Club, and Brooke Guest (43) slowed the chase and Leus du Plooy and Anuj Dal batted resolutely to the close to secure a draw.
