Derbyshire fell to an eight-wicket defeat in their opening Second XI Championship game of the season against Leicestershire at Belper Meadows.
First-teamers Alex Hughes, Harry Came, Mattie McKiernan, Dustin Melton and Mikey Cohen all featured, as did Pathway opener, Mitch Wagstaff, against a strong Leicestershire side.
Former Glamorgan seamer, Roman Walker, was the pick of the visiting bowlers on Day One, claiming 4-22 from 16 overs, while Gavin Griffiths took 3-17 as Derbyshire were dismissed for 133, despite a knock of 46 from McKiernan.
Having spent the winter recovering from a back injury, Mikey Cohen was able to get 14.3 first-innings overs in his legs, taking 1-40, but it was McKiernan (2-21) and Hughes (2-25) who would make the largest dent, as Leicestershire themselves were all out for 224.
However, Derbyshire were unable to set a substantial total for the visitors to chase, after spinner Nathan Bowley claimed 4-31, with Hughes providing the main resistance with 26 for the hosts.
All out for 117, meaning Leicestershire needed just 27 to win, which they would manage before the end of the second day, closing on 30-2.
