Local schools get free entry to Worcestershire fixture

Wednesday 11th May 2022

More than 200 students from ten local Derbyshire schools will be in attendance for Day Two of Derbyshire’s LV= County Championship fixture against Worcestershire this week.

As part of Derbyshire County Cricket Club and the Derbyshire Cricket Foundation’s ongoing commitment to getting more local youngsters involved with the game, local schools have been granted free entry on Friday 13 May.

The schoolchildren will be treated to enthralling first-class cricket, with international cricketers such as Suranga Lakmal, Shan Masood and Azhar Ali all in action at The Incora County Ground.

Derbyshire have seen a rise in the number of Junior Members this season, with the offer of a free Junior Membership with the purchase of a full adult package before February, while the DCF have provided  almost 2,000 hours of coaching delivered in 110 primary schools, reaching 12,000 children across Derbyshire, over the last year.

Over 160 different activity sessions were also provided through the government Holiday Activity Fund (HAF), with 728 Children engaged in the sessions providing 1271 meals in deprived Wards within the City.
