Derbyshire have signed Nottinghamshire seamer, Toby Pettman, on loan for the LV= County Championship fixture against Middlesex.
Pettman has taken 33 first-class wickets at an average of 21.15 and best-figures of 5-19, while he also has one half-century to his name.
The 24-year-old’s arrival will provide additional cover for a bowling attack currently depleted by injuries, including to the likes of frontline seamers Ben Aitchison and Suranga Lakmal, while Hayden Kerr and George Scrimshaw’s bowling loads are being managed to build fitness for the longer formats.
He will come into the squad for the game against Middlesex at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield, which begins on Sunday 12 June.
Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, said: “Due to the bowlers we have out, we needed a seamer who could come in and keep it tight from one end, while taking some of the workload off our frontline quicks.
“Toby has a lot of talent and we’re looking forward to seeing how he gets on at Queen’s Park against Middlesex.”
Pettman added: “This is a great chance to gain more first-class experience and I can’t wait to get out there and show what I can do.
“Derbyshire have had a good start to the red ball season, so it’s an exciting team to be a part of. I’m looking forward to making a good contribution with the ball and hopefully getting a good result against Middlesex.”
