No side has provided the opposition for Derbyshire in one day cricket more often than Lancashire, the two teams having met 76 times since their first match in the Gillette Cup quarter final at Old Trafford in 1963.
Derbyshire have won 21 times, Lancashire 44, with eight games ending as a No Result and three Abandoned.
The sides have met twice in Lord’s finals, Derbyshire winning a memorable Benson and Hedges Cup in 1993 when Dominic Cork announced himself to a national audience with a superlative unbeaten 92, while Lancashire won the NatWest Trophy in 1998.
Derbyshire’s highest innings total of 288 for five came in a Friends Provident game at Derby in 2008 when the home side won by 100 runs; Lancashire’s highest total of 300 for eight resulted in a 101-run win in a Royal London Cup match at Derby in 2014.
Despite playing Lancashire on so many occasions, Derbyshire have only mustered three hundreds against them in this form of the game; Kim Barnett scoring two and Dean Jones the other.
Derbyshire’s highest partnership against Lancashire was shared by Steve Stubbings and Chris Rogers who added 150 for the first wicket at Derby in 2008.
Five Derbyshire bowlers have taken five wickets in an innings against Lancashire, Cork, Barnett, Steve Oldham and Tony Palladino, with Mike Hendrick’s five for 30 at Southport in 1976 the best analysis.
Behind the stumps, Bob Taylor holds the Derbyshire record – which was a world record at the time – for dismissals in a one day game, taking six catches and completing one stumping in a John Player League match at Old Trafford in 1975.
