Derbyshire’s bowlers were left with little reward for their efforts on Day One of the LV= County Championship fixture against Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens.
Anuj Dal, Alex Thomson and Luis Reece claimed a wicket apiece, but those were the only breakthroughs the attack would make, with opening quick Ben Aitchison restricted to just nine deliveries after slipping in his delivery stride in the first over of the day.
Glamorgan captain, David Lloyd, led from the front for his side, scoring a brilliant 203 not out in Cardiff, while Billy Root also ended the day unbeaten on 77, as the hosts closed on 380-3.
Derbyshire won the toss and chose to bowl first, but the debuting Adam Sylvester and Anuj Dal, who took over while Aitchison was off the field, found wickets hard to come by, with the latter dismissing Eddie Byrom for 13.
Thomas Bevan (48) and Sam Northeast (22) fell in the afternoon session, but that would be the last of the wickets, as the pairing of Root and Lloyd closed the day with an unbroke 197-run stand.
