Thursday 20th October 2022
& News

Derbyshire fast bowler, Sam Conners, has been named in the England Lions training group, which will travel to the UAE in November.

Conners, a Cricket Derbyshire Academy, in partnership with the University of Derby, graduate, was the youngest player to take 50 first-class wickets in the 2022 LV= County Championship, and claimed 4-25 against a strong South Africa side on his Lions debut in August.

The 23-year-old will be part of the group, which will support England Men’s Test preparation for Pakistan, with a three-day practice match between  England Lions  and the England Test team taking place on November 23-25, in Abu Dhabi.

Conners will again be a key part of Mickey Arthur’s pace attack next season, with Ben Aitchison, George Scrimshaw, Anuj Dal, Luis Reece and Nick Potts joined by a fully-fit Suranga Lakmal and new signing Zak Chappell.
