Blast Off 2024
Blast Off returns in 2024, with Derbyshire once again taking centre stage as the Vitality Blast gets underway at Edgbaston.
The event, which is becoming established as one of the premier events in the English cricketing summer, will take place on Saturday 1 June, and see Birmingham Bears and Derbyshire Falcons both feature as home teams.
Following positive feedback from the hundreds of Members and Blast Pass holders who attended last summer, the Club has been keen to secure this opportunity for the Falcons again in 2024, providing an additional big event for supporters and revenue opportunities to continue investing in the playing squad and spectator facilities at The County Ground.
FAQS
- How do I purchase a ticket? Tickets are on sale now via Edgbaston. To purchase tickets, and for all other general ticket enquiries, please contact the host venue.
- Do Members get free entry? Derbyshire’s 2024 and Life Members, as well as 2024 Blast Pass holders, can enjoy free entry to Blast Off next summer.
- Do Members need to claim a ticket? All supporters wishing to attend Blast Off are required to claim a ticket and seat.
- Are Derbyshire selling / booking tickets? Derbyshire are not selling or booking tickets. All tickets must be claimed via Edgbaston. For supporters who attended last year, this will be in the same method. For those attending for the first time, you will be required to create an Edgbaston account in order to claim tickets.
- Will Coach Transport be provided? Coach Travel is on sale now, with further details included below.
- What are the fixtures? Derbyshire Falcons vs Leicestershire Foxes and Birmingham Bears vs Notts Outlaws. Derbyshire Falcons will be the designated home team in the first game of the day, while Birmingham Bears will take part in the evening fixture.
- Why are Derbyshire taking part in Blast Off? Blast Off was devised and implemented in 2023 as an additional big event to the major match schedule and a way to focus on the Vitality Blast at the start of the competition. Recent attendance and sales information across the game suggested that the tournament gets off to a slow start and Blast Off is a way to provide similar entertainment to Finals Day, but at the start of the competition, with the aim being to attract further attention to the competition for all counties.
- Was Blast Off 2023 a success? Derbyshire Falcons welcomed a Club-record aggregate crowd (across six fixtures) to The County Ground and Queen’s Park in 2023, with Blast Off one of a number of positive changes which enabled greater attendances in the early part of the competition. As discussed at the Members’ Forum in September, the revenue generated surpassed that of the like-for-like fixture in Derby and allowed for further investment in the playing squad last summer. The Club received positive feedback from Members who attended and we thank you for your continued support.
