Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, believes Derbyshire’s involvement in next year’s Blast Off event will prepare the squad for big matches for years to come.
Derbyshire Falcons will make history at Edgbaston to begin their 2023 T20 campaign, as part of the first-ever Blast Off, joining Birmingham Bears as the home teams in a huge double-header, which will signal the start of the Vitality Blast.
Arthur says being a part of the historic event will give Derbyshire’s squad the opportunity to play in front of a Finals Day-like atmosphere, something which will help to prepare them for similar big occasions, as the Falcons aim to challenge for silverware.
“It’s going to be a fantastic occasion, we’re really happy to be a part of it, because it’s a historic event.
“This prepares our players for playing on the big stage and hopefully can be a bit of a curtain raiser for us reaching Finals Day later down the line.
“The Blast Off is going to be exciting, it will be colourful and it’ll be a good day out for ourselves and our supporters.”
The Blast Off double-header is included in 2023 Membership and Blast Pass packages, meaning that Derbyshire supporters can be at the heart of the action, for both games, as the Falcons return to the biggest stage.
Further details regarding coach travel options will be released in due course.
Derbyshire’s full fixture list (all formats) is due to be announced on Wednesday 30 November.
Having enjoyed a Club-record T20 campaign in 2022, Mickey Arthur’s Falcons will again be targeting a place in the knockout stages next season and you can watch all seven home games with a Blast Pass for just £99!
The Blast Pass includes all Derbyshire Falcons home cricket, including the full Blast Off double-header event, as well as the Vitality IT20 between England Women and Sri Lanka next September, meaning you get nine T20 matches.
There’s a host of added benefits included too, so make sure you don’t miss out on an explosive summer of Twenty20 action with Blast Pass.
Be Bold. Be Derbyshire.
