Brooke Guest struck an unbeaten 140 as South Perth overcame Gosnells, despite an impressive 88 from fellow Derbyshire player, Luis Reece.

The pair met in the Western Australia Cricket Association First Grade, with Reece hitting 12 fours and a six, as Gosnells posted a total of 220-7 from their 50 overs.

In South Perth’s chase, Guest took centre stage, smashing 140 off just 112 balls, including 14 fours and one six, guiding his side to victory with 63 balls to spare.

Leus du Plooy made his SA20 debut for Joburg Super Kings, top-scoring (21) against an MI Cape Town side including Rashid Khan, who the Derbyshire skipper ramped for four with the back of his bat. Unfortunately, Joburg fell to a seven-wicket defeat and will be aiming to bounce back against Pretoria Capitals on Tuesday (3.30pm, Sky Sports).

Batting Consultant, Ian Bell, was confirmed as part of the England Lions coaching staff for their tour of Sri Lanka next month. The former batter, who scored more than 13,000 international runs, will be working with the batting unit throughout January and February.

In the International League T20, Mark Watt’s Desert Vipers got off to a winning start, defeating Sharjah Warriors by seven wickets. They are next in action on Wednesday against Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (2pm, BT Sport).

Harry Came scored 33 as Claremont defeated FBTC Brackenfell CC in South Africa, while Archie Harrison (19) helped Northern Districts Cricket Club to a win over Corrimal. Mitch Wagstaff scored 11 as Corowa were beaten by Wodonga Raiders.
