Derbyshire batter, Haider Ali, and Assistant Coach (Bowling Lead), Ajmal Shahzad, are set to begin their Pakistan Super League campaigns this week.

Haider Ali, 22, has signed for the entire 2023 English domestic season and will be with the squad prior to the start of the LV= County Championship season, after representing Karachi Kings at the PSL, having been traded in a deal, which saw Babar Azam move to Peshawar Zalmi.

The big-hitting batter will play a big role for the Kings, whose side also contains the likes of Australia’s Matthew Wade and South Africa’s Tabraiz Shamsi, with their first game taking place on Tuesday from 2.30pm, live on Sky Sports.

Shahzad will be working with Multan Sultans during the 2023 PSL, with players such as Shahnawaz Dahani and Josh Little in their bowling ranks, while former Derbyshire batter, Shan Masood, is expected to open in the first game of the tournament today (2.30pm), alongside Mohammad Rizwan.

Club Captain, Leus du Plooy’s impressive SA20 campaign came to a close with a semi-final defeat to eventual winners, Sunrisers Eastern Cape at Centurion.

The stylish left-hander starred for Joburg Super Kings in their run to the final four, scoring 249 runs at an average of 62.25, the second-highest in the competition, while his two half-centuries proved to be match-winning knocks for his side.

Mark Watt’s Desert Vipers finished as runners up in the inaugural International League T20, falling to Gulf Giants in the final. The Scotland spinner saw limited game time in the competition and will now join up with Scotland, with his nation on the verge of qualification for the ICC World Cup.

Scotland will face Nepal and Namibia twice, with the first game starting on Wednesday in Kirtipur.

Luis Reece brought his latest stint with Gosnells with a brilliant all-round performance, claiming 3-27 before scoring a half-century to defeat Wanneroo. He will return to Derbyshire training this week.

Sarah Glenn claimed England’s first wicket of ICC Twenty20 World Cup as the side produced a dominant performance to defeat the West Indies. They are in action again today against Ireland, hoping to make it two wins from as many games.
