From huge names on the field to award-winning experiences off it, we take a look at some of the best reasons to join us for some explosive T20 action in 2023.

Huge games on prime dates

This season, every Derbyshire Falcons home fixture will be played on either a Bank Holiday, a Friday night or a weekend, meaning there’s never been a better time to come and watch the Vitality Blast live at The Incora County Ground.

From our Family Day double-header on Monday 29 May to the local derbies against Notts Outlaws and Yorkshire Vikings in May, there’s plenty of huge T20 clashes to enjoy, so book your tickets before Thursday 4 May to get the best possible price!

Huge international stars, near and far

The Vitality Blast is one of the world’s premiere T20 competitions and it attracts international stars from all over the globe, and this season is no different!

Derbyshire welcome back legendary Sri Lankan fast bowler, Suranga Lakmal and welcome big-hitting Pakistan opener, Haider Ali, into a squad containing Scotland’s Mark Watt, SA20 star Leus du Plooy and England Lions pair, Sam Conners and George Scrimshaw.

But what about out opponents? This summer, Derbyshire will host a number of the world’s best players, with Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi playing for Notts Outlaws, Australia’s Glen Maxwell with Birmingham Bears, while his powerful countryman, Chris Lynn, remains with Northants Steelbacks.

Huge signings all over the county game means for some huge battles at The Incora County Ground and Queen’s Park, so make sure you don’t miss out on seeing stars of the world game in Derbyshire this summer.

The biggest derbies

Two of county cricket’s biggest rivalries reignite in Derbyshire this summer, as the Falcons take on Notts Outlaws and Yorkshire Vikings in blockbuster clashes.

First, Derbyshire Falcons host the Outlaws on Friday 9 June (6.30pm start) in the East Midlands Derby, with plenty of old scores to be settled, with Mickey Arthur’s side having finished joint-top of the North Group last season, while the Trent Bridge outfit failed to qualify for the quarter-finals in 2022.

Then, on Sunday 18 June (2.30pm) Derbyshire face Yorkshire Vikings at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield, aiming to extend their long unbeaten run over the White Rose.

Tickets are selling fast for both games, with the Yorkshire fixture having sold out in 2018, 2019 and 2022, so don’t delay if you want to experience these huge matches live and in person.

A world-class coaching setup

Derbyshire are led by world-renowned Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, who is a former coach of South Africa, Australia, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, the latter of which he won the ICC Champions Trophy with.

However, Arthur is not alone, having assembled a world-class coaching team containing former England internationals, Ian Bell (Batting Consultant) and Ajmal Shahzad (Assistant Coach, Bowling Lead), who reached the PSL final with Multan Sultans during the winter, while Derbyshire’s all-time leading T20 wicket-taker, Alex Hughes, is also part of the setup.

Arthur is targetting silverware with the squad this summer, having reached the quarter-finals last season, and with this level of coaching behind them, the squad has the best possible chance of doing so.

The best-domestic experience

Derbyshire was named the Best Domestic Experience in county cricket for the 2022 campaign and this season promises to be even better!

Allocated seating is once again available to families in the Showcase Cinema de Lux Family Zone, while there will be brand new activations to keep everyone entertained before the game.

A wide range of food and drinks, covering every dietary needs, will be available during this season’s Vitality Blast and there will be a cuisine for every taste while you take in the mouthwatering action on the field.
