Pre-Match Pack: Notts Outlaws (A)

Derbyshire Falcons have named a 14-player squad for the East Midlands Derby against Notts Outlaws at Trent Bridge.

George Scrimshaw and Zaman Khan impressed with the ball against Leicestershire in the Second XI victory on Wednesday and the pair will be aiming to show their considerable pace against our local rivals.

Wayne Madsen began the 2023 Vitality Blast in fine form, scoring the first half-century of the competition and Derbyshire’s all-time leading T20 run-scorer will be a key figure in the batting lineup, as will captain, Leus du Plooy.

The Opposition

Notts Outlaws will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2022 season, which saw them fail to reach the quarter-finals. 

Derbyshire were one of the sides to qualify at the expense of the Trent Bridge side, who welcome overseas signings Colin Munro ans Shaheen Afridi to West Bridgeford for the Vitality Blast.

ICC T20 World Cup winner, Alex Hales, will provide power at the top of the order, while Samit Patel and Steven Mullaney bring a wealth of T20 experience.

Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, believes there were positives to take from Derbyshire Falcons’ opening-game defeat to Lancashire Lightning at Blast Off.

The Falcons were beaten in the final over at Edgbaston, with debutants Zaman Khan and Zak Chappell each claiming two wickets, while Wayne Madsen scored the first half-century of the competition.
