A host of England stars will go head-to-head at The Incora County Ground this Monday, as The Blaze take on Southern Vipers in the Charlotte Edwards Cup (11am), before Derbyshire Falcons face Northants Steelbacks in the Vitality Blast (3pm).
Monday 29 May will see an historic double-header, as the East Midlands-based, Blaze and Derbyshire Falcons play at the same ground on the same day, with the event set to take place in front of a big crowd on Family Day.
International stars from the men’s and women’s game will be in action across the two T20s, with The Blaze and Vipers boasting a collection of England’s finest cricketers! Derbyshire’s own Sarah Glenn will line-up alongside Nat Sciver-Brunt, Tammy Beaumont and South Africa’s Nadine de Klerk, who recently claimed 7-33 against Diamonds, while Southern Vipers contain the likes of Danni Wyatt, Maia Bouchier, Charlie Dean and Lauren Bell, all of whom played key roles in England reaching the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup earlier this year.
As well as Glenn, there will be a second Derbyshire connection in this match, as Georgia Adams, daughter of Derbyshire great Chris, will also be in action for the Vipers.
The Blaze are unbeaten across all competitions this season, winning all five of their Rachel Heyhoe Flint fixtures and defeating South East Stars in their opening CEC game of the campaign.
The second of Monday’s fixtures will see Mickey Arthur’s Falcons, themselves containing England Lions’ quick George Scrimshaw and Pakistan duo, Haider Ali and Zaman Khan, will face a Northants side which includes big-hitting Australian, Chris Lynn and experienced England all-rounder, David Willey.
The Incora County Ground has been one of England’s premiere venues in the growth of women’s cricket for more than six years, with annual England internationals combining with Charlotte Edwards Cup matches to take a proiminent place within the ground’s summer schedule.
