Derbyshire have won the 2023 Second XI T20 competition, after defeating Yorkshire and Glamorgan at Finals Day, held at Wormsley.
The team, led by captain Harry Came, produced convincing wins in both matches, with Anuj Dal scoring a combined 85 runs across two unbeaten innings, as Chris Highton lifted silverware in his first season as Second XI Coach and Head of Analytics.
Dal finished as Derbyshire’s leading Second XI T20 run-scorer, with 375 runs, while Ben Aitchison, who claimed 5-30 in the final, picked up 19 wickets.
A host of Cricket Derbyshire Academy players and graduates featured throughout the campaign, with four players at various stages of their cricketing journeys playing a part on Finals Day, in Tom Wood, Nick Potts, Archie Harrison and Harry Moore.
First team captain, Leus du Plooy, also scored half-centuries in each game, as he prepares to lead the side in T20 fixtures against Durham (Friday) and Yorkshire Vikings (Sunday).
