Derbyshire have signed Surrey fast bowler, Conor McKerr, on loan for the upcoming LV= County Championship fixture away to Worcestershire.
It is the 25-year-old’s third spell with Derbyshire, the first coming in 2017, when he claimed ten wickets in a first-class match against Northamptonshire, while he also impressed across seven Vitality Blast appearances in 2021.
He joins to provide an additional fast bowling option while Derbyshire’s Sam Conners (calf) and Zak Chappell (Achilles) return to full fitness. Suranga Lakmal remains unavailable for selection after picking up a minor concussion while batting against Yorkshire at Chesterfield earlier this month.
McKerr has claimed 49 first-class wickets at an average of 32.93 and made three appearances as Surrey won the 2022 LV= County Championship Division One title.
Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, said: “A few of our bowlers are carrying minor knocks, but we’ve been able to move quickly to sign Conor for the game at New Road.
“He’s an out-and-out quick bowler and impressed here before, so was a natural fit to slot into the side as we switch to the Championship.”
