Pre-Match Pack: Yorkshire Vikings (A)

Derbyshire Falcons have named a 15-player squad for their Vitality Blast match against Yorkshire Vikings at Headingley, starting on Sunday 4 June at 11.30am. 

Wayne Madsen continued his imperious form with the bat in the win over Birmingham Bears, making it five scores of 50 or above in as many Vitality Blast innings this season, putting him top of the run-scoring charts with 348 runs.

Zak Chappell starred with the ball in Derbyshire’s back-to-back wins over Leicestershire Foxes and the Bears, picking up five wickets for a total of 71 runs across the two fixtures, while Zaman Khan, George Scrimshaw and Mattie McKiernan were all key to the home win on Friday night.

Harry Came comes into the squad for the trip to Leeds, while Tom Wood comes into the game in good form after strong supporting innings of 37 and 39 this week.

The Opposition

Despite a tough start, Yorkshire Vikings sit in the cusp of the top four in the North Group, locked on four points with the Falcons, with a win likely to move either side up the table on Sunday.

Dawid Malan has made a strong start with the bat, scoring 247 runs across five innings, while former Derbyshire Falcons skipper, Shan Masood, will be aiming to get his season up and running.

A big win over Nottinghamshire and a Roses victory over Lancashire Lightning mean the Vikings come into the game in good form, and David Wiese’s seven wickets have been crucial to their revival.

Chappell has picked up nine T20 wickets this season and an average of less than 18, with the tall quick closing in on the competition’s leading wicket-takers.
