& News

Derbyshire have secured a place at the Second XI T20 Finals Day at Wormsley, to be played on Thursday 15 June.

The Second XI, led by Chris Highton in his first season as Second XI Coach and Head of Analytics, and captained by Harry Came, were the best second-placed side in the competition, picking up seven wins from ten games and maintaining a net run-rate of exactly one.

Anuj Dal is among the top ten run-scorers in the competition, with 290 runs at an average of 96.67, with three half-centuries, including an unbeaten 68 in Derbyshire’s final group game against Yorkshire at Duffield to secure progression into the final four.

With the ball, Ben Aitchison has taken 14 wickets, the fourth-most in the competition, at an average of just 15.21 and best figures of 3-10.

Derbyshire will be joined at Finals Day by Glamorgan, Yorkshire and Hampshire, with the first semi-final due to begin from 10.30am on Thursday 15 June, the second at 1.45pm and the final will start at 5pm.

Highton said: “We’re really pleased to reach Finals Day, after winning seven of our ten games in a very strong group.

“We’ve had great contributions from the whole squad and, having won our last three games, we’re hoping to take that momentum into Finals Day.”
