Wicketkeeper-batter, Brooke Guest, will captain Derbyshire in August’s Metro Bank One Day Cup, with Anuj Dal appointed as Vice Captain.
Guest, who has become a key member of the side in all formats and has scored two centuries this season, will captain the side in List A cricket for the first time as Derbyshire kick off the Metro Bank One Day Cup on Tuesday 1 August against Gloucestershire at Cheltenham.
He will be Derbyshire’s 45th List A captain and the 12th player to captain and keep wicket for the Club, the most recent being Tom Poynton in 2011.
Dal will be Vice Captain during the competition, with the all-rounder given the opportunity to bring his leadership qualities exhibited through holding roles such as Vice Chair of the PCA, onto the field for the 50-over format.
Derbyshire get their first taste of 50-over action in 2023 tomorrow (Sunday) as they face Lincolnshire at Lindum, starting at 11am.
Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, said: “Brooke has shown his ability to contribute to the team effort and make a difference in games on a number of occasions this season and now he has the opportunity to lead our team in the One Day Cup.
“He will be supported by Anuj, who is a key member of our dressing room and someone who is eager to make a difference as a senior player, as well as a few experienced heads within the squad.”
Arthur’s side will face Glamorgan, Sussex Sharks, Worcestershire Rapids and Somerset on home soil, with the likes of Luis Reece, Haider Ali and Sam Conners all set to entertain the Derbyshire faithful.
