Disability Premier League Matchday Two review

The 2023 Disability Premier League continued on Sunday, with the final set to be played at The Incora County Ground on Wednesday 6 September (12.30pm). 

The unbeaten Hawks continued their strong start to the competition with another two victories at Chobham, while Tridents picked up their first win of the campaign in dominant fashion, overcoming Black Cats by 37 runs.

The day kicked off with Hawks taking on Black Cats, and the Hawks bowling attack with in fine form, sharing out nine of the ten wickets and bowling out their opponents for just 87. Jack Perry (37) top scored in the run chase, as his side reached the target with 29 balls remaining, losing just two wickets in the process.

Pirates defeated Tridents thanks to Monty McKenzie’s excellent spell of 3-11, and 58 from just 35 balls from Anthony Clapham, as they chased down 149-4 in just over 18 overs.

Then it was time for Pirates to face Hawks, with the latter maintaining their 100% record, with Alfie Pyle and Owen Morris each claiming three wickets, while Callum Flynn scored 62 not out to guide his team home, chasing 138 to win.

Defending champions, Tridents, secured their first victory, as Cameron Sweeney smashed a 58, which included five sixes, to help post a total of 166-6, the highest team total of the day. In reply, Black Cats were restricted to 129-9 as Tridents picked up some much-needed momentum ahead of the final round of group fixtures at Loughborough on Sunday 3 September.

The 2023 Disability Premier League final will be hosted at The Incora County Ground on Wednesday 6 September at 12.30pm, before England Women’s Vitality IT20 fixture against Sri Lanka.
