All-rounder, Alex Thomson, has signed a two-year contract extension with Derbyshire.
Thomson has taken two five-wicket hauls in the LV= County Championship this season, with the all-rounder claiming his 50th first-class wicket for the Club during the recent fixture at Bristol, and he has featured in all three formats this campaign.
Since joining the Club from Warwickshire in 2021, the 29-year-old has been a regular fixture in the first-class team and is among Derbyshire’s leading-wicket takers in 2023.
Head of Cricket, Mickey Arthur, said: “Alex has shown real improvement this season and that has been reflected in him becoming a regular wicket-taker across all forms of the game and a useful batter down the order.
“Going into next season, Alex’s role will be a key one and we are confident he can deliver in the big moments, as we look to improve on our showing in 2023.”
Thomson added: “I feel at home with Derbyshire and the great support I’ve received from our Members and supporters has really helped me in the difficult moments.
“I’ve had a strong second half of the season and I feel confident in my role, Mickey has backed me to bowl a lot of overs in red ball and cricket and I want to deliver more results over the next two years.”
