Derbyshire all-rounder, Luis Reece, has been named in the PCA MVP Team of the Month for September, after scoring 421 runs in four innings throughout the month.
Using the MVP’s unique algorithm, the team has been selected by choosing the game’s top performers across domestic cricket during the month.
The PCA’s MVP system works by comparing a player’s accomplishments against the expected performance for that game. Runs and wickets achieved at each ground are also considered and compared to the average. This enables players to score or lose MVP points, therefore the rankings are a true reflection of performance.
Reece featured in three LV= County Championship fixtures, scoring 421 runs in just four innings, with two centuries and two half-centuries, on his way to breaking the Club record for consecutive first-class scores of 50 or more (seven). This gave the left-hander a MVP score of 95.61 points for the month.
The 2023 Derbyshire Player of the Year became the first batter in history to score four centuries against the same county (Glamorgan) in a County Championship season.
Reece has also been nominated for the PCA Player of the Month for September alongside Sam Robson (Middlesex), Liam Dawson (Hampsire) and James Vince (Hamshire). You can cast your vote by clicking the link below, with the vote closing tomorrow.
