Derbyshire all-rounder, Anuj Dal, has been named as one of seven finalists for the 2023 PCA Futures Awards, which celebrates personal development from PCA membership.

The PCA’s Futures Awards, in association with Lodders Solicitors, returns for the 11th edition, with seven members of the PCA aiming to win awards for their personal development off the field.

Dal has been named as a finalist in the Academic Progression Category, alongside Yorkshire batter Yash Vagadia.

Having recently completed his Chartered Insurance Institute Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, Dal is now working towards his Master’s qualification in Advanced Financial Planning. Alongside being Vice-Chair of the PCA, the all-rounder continues to grow his cricket coaching company, Purpose Cricket Coaching, which supports around 40 players and six clubs.

Former Derbyshire players Tom Lace (Community Spirit) and Steve Griffiths (Business Impact) are also in contention to win awards, which will be announced on Tuesday 28 November.

Lace is on the shortlist for his work delivering sessions on ‘lifestyle, behaviour and addiction’ and ’emotional regulation’ to football club’s youth sections, as well as a full-time volunteering role as an Athlete Engagement Lead at Sporting Chance.

Griffiths has built up a workshop in his garden, using recycled materials to create large pieces of artwork. In the future, he wants to produce bespoke upcycled furniture and brightly coloured pop art pieces, all whilst promoting ecological thinking, leading to a ‘rubbish free world’.

All finalists have to submit a presentation to a panel comprising of PCA and Lodders staff, which aids the selection committee in choosing the category winners. Each category winner will be awarded a financial prize to be reinvested into their personal development.

As well as the four category winners, one individual will be named as the overall winner, which was won last year by Gloucestershire’s Tom Smith.

The full list of finalists is as follows:

Academic Progession
Anuj Dal
Yash Vagadia

Business Impact
Kiran Carlson
Steve Griffiths
Ben Twohig

Community Spirit
Ethan Bamber
Tom Lace

Good luck to all involved!
